Shade Structures in Charlotte
A pergola is an open frame that filters the sun and reads lighter against a house. A pavilion has a solid roof, so it keeps the rain off and lets you leave a fan, lights, and proper furniture underneath. If you want to sit outside through a summer thunderstorm, you want a pavilion.
Yes, and engineering too once you are past a modest span or attaching to the house. We handle the drawings, the submission, and the inspections. HOA architectural review is a separate process and we prepare that packet as well.
Cedar looks warmer and takes a stain beautifully, but it wants re-sealing every few years. Powder-coated aluminium is effectively maintenance-free and spans further on a thinner profile, for more money up front. Both are good answers. It comes down to how you feel about getting the ladder out.
Usually, yes. The detail that matters is flashing into the existing roof properly so the whole thing does not become a leak, which is exactly the sort of job we would rather do ourselves than be called in to repair. On some rooflines a freestanding structure set just off the house is the better answer, and we will say so.
